Digger & Duggie

Matchday simply wouldn't be the same without Digger! Digger has been the London Irish mascot since the 1999-2000 season and is now as much as part of the London Irish team as any of the players.

Digger is an Irish wolfhound, the world's largest breed of dog; standing at approximately 6 feet 2 inches, Digger is quite a large dog. The Irish wolfhound breed dates as far back as the 5th Century, but don't worry though, Digger is not that old, not even in dog years!

Digger can often be spotted around the Stadium, Training Ground and out and about in the Community. He frequently accompanies the Community Team to schools, sports clubs and lots of other places where he can meet all his fans, as well as acquire some new ones! Not only has Digger run the Reading Half-Marathon, but also the London Marathon - and raised heaps of money!

Digger was joined at the start of the 2006/07 season by his cousin, Duggie. Duggie had been travelling the world before he joined London Irish. Duggie is known for having a naughty streak and a real love of travelling! While Duggie hates to miss any London Irish games, he also loves to head off to new places (and new mischiefs). Even when he is away, Duggie always make sure to keep up with the latest London Irish scores.

On a matchday, keep an eye out for Digger and Duggie pitchside. Make sure you give them a shout and a wave!
