London Irish were outscored three tries to two this afternoon as they went down 30 points to 12 against London Wasps at Adams Park.

Jon Fisher crossed for a brace of tries in the second half to cap off an impressive personal performance. Gerard Ellis and Kieran low were also pointed out by Brian Smith for their notable contributions.

Irish started the better of the two sides and dominated territory and possession in the opening 20 minutes. They were however unable to register any points on the board.

Tom Homer left the field on five minutes with a suspected groin injury and was replaced by Fergus Mulchrone.

Wasps took the lead on 25 minutes with a try from Guy Thompson. The home side drove the ball from the line-out and the openside flanker peeled off to dot down.

Andy Goode added two penalty goals to give the home side a 13-0 lead at half time.

Irish introduced their replacements for the second half to ensure all 26 players had a hit out. Wasps started the half in the ascendancy and added seven more points to their tally with a penalty try to take their lead to 20-0.

Irish responded well with two tries in quick succession. Jon Fisher picked a great line off a Myles Dorrian to dive under the posts. Dorrian added the extras to cut the deficit to 13 points.

Joe Carlisle kicked a Wasps penalty before Fisher was over for his second try. Gerard Ellis was instrumental in the lead up, carrying the ball powerfully before Fisher was on hand to finish off well.

The home side were awarded a penalty try with seven minutes left after referee, Dean Richards, went under the posts for high tackle close to the try line.

The match finished London Wasps 30 London Irish 12. The Exiles travel to Cork next friday evening to take on Munster in their final pre-season fixture.
