The new sports centre of excellence at Hazelwood

  • The London Irish family has outgrown The Avenue site and needs a new home in order to continue to provide rugby to the community.
  • Some families currently have children playing in various locations on a Sunday morning; the relocation will mean they will all be able to play in the same place.
  • There is a significant call for more and better sports facilities within the Spelthorne area from local schools and community groups.
  • Hazelwood can provide a long term home for the London Irish family in Sunbury.
  • Relocating London Irish to Hazelwood will ensure this important bit of the green belt will be retained for sporting use.

The new community at The Avenue

  • The Avenue development will provide a mix of appropriate housing for those residents who wish to stay in Sunbury.
  • The Avenue development will also provide other community facilities, including a site for a new health centre and a care home.
  • The Avenue has been designed with the local community’s needs in mind, with London Irish and the architects listening hard to understand how to make the scheme as good as possible.
