London Irish Amateur Rugby Football Club is a traditional amateur rugby club, formed in 1898 to cater for Senior and Junior amateur rugby at Sunbury, the club's spiritual home.
We run 5 adult sides ranging from our 1st XV Wild Geese, which having won promotion for the second year in succession will compete in London Division South West 3 this coming season, a Development XV, the A2s, the Bs (vets) and the Under 19s.
We also run squads in every age group in Mini and Youth rugby, starting with a 'Kinder Group' which caters for 5 year olds, after which players progress right up to our Under 18s.
Our current Mini Youth set up has over 350 players and is one of the longest running and most successful in the country, producing 4 County Championship sides( U.17's, U.16's, U.12's and U.9's) last season and two runners up (U.19's and U.15's).
On any one weekend we field over 400 players, who turn out for one of our 25 sides, ranging from the 1st XV down to the Under 6s.
We are very much part of the London Irish family which also comprises a Professional First XV who play in the Premier Division of the Zurich league. This arrangement allows us to function independently of the professional rugby enterprise but with close co-operation between the two and with both operating under the same banner.
Our aim is to develop a successful amateur club, provide rugby for 5s to 55s, provide a social outlet for all the family and also contribute to an equally successful professional rugby enterprise, whilst also maintaining our strong historic links with Ireland.
